In the News: What happened when they told me, 'go back to your country'
President Trump recently went on a Twitter call out four non-white congresswomen for critiquing America by asking “why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.'' In response, Karthick Ramakrishnan wrote an opinion article on CNN that details his struggle with growing up in his conservative, small-town in Central Massachusetts. His outspokenness towards American policies was met with repression, although he believes that “The claims being made go to the core of what it means to be American. And it is up to us, individually as well as collectively, to steer our country away from the sirens of false patriotism and to uphold the principles of inclusion that have consistently made our country great.”
