Civic Engagement Group

Francisco Pedraza and Loren Collingwood, co-Directors

The Civic Engagement Group brings together scholarly and applied research expertise in public opinion, political representation, voting, and other forms of civic participation. Our past experiences include multi-language surveys of diverse populations, analysis of voter files, and studies on gaps in representation and participation.

Immigration Research Group

Cecilia Ayón, Director

The Immigration Research Group at UC Riverside seeks to make research and data on immigration and immigrant integration relevant to a variety of audiences, including scholars, journalists, community organizations, government officials, and the general public. We draw strength from our research in public policy, public health, and the social sciences.

Place Making Group

Catherine Gudis and Beth Tamayose, co-Directors

The Place Making Group focuses on research and policy work that promotes people’s health, quality of life, and a sense of place. The group draws on contributions from urban planning, public policy, public history, and other related disciplines to provide a people-centered approach to policy making and planning. Initial activities include collaborations with community partners on Census outreach and promoting an inclusive narrative for the Inland Empire.

Economic Mobility Group

Ellen Reese, Director

The Economic Mobility Group builds on the work of UCR’s Labor Studies program and its interface with worker centers and other similar organizations in the region. It will also focus on the creation of new opportunities in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors that promote economic mobility and inclusion.

Leadership & Entrepreneurship Group

Karthick Ramakrishnan, Director

The Leadership & Entrepreneurship Group focuses on new opportunities to boost nonprofit innovation, leadership capacity, and cross-sector collaboration. Key activities for the group include the coordination of regional policy summits and the creation of a nonprofit fellowship program, a nonprofit summer institute, and a peer network and mentor network that encourage and sustain social innovation and nonprofit leadership.
