Asian-American Voters to Play Big Role on Super Tuesday

Political trends among AAPI groups aren’t uniform. While Vietnamese-Americans are only recently turning to the left, Americans of Chinese descent have been voting Democratic for years, said Prof. Ramakrishnan, and Republicans have recently attempted to make inroads via opposition to affirmative action.

There also can be stark generational differences, with older people who may be immigrants themselves voting more conservative, and younger people who are more likely to have grown up in the U.S. leaning left, experts and voters said.
