Social Innovation Institute 2

Social Innovation Institute

The Social Innovation Institute is a professional enrichment opportunity designed to provide nonprofit professionals with resources and tools that elevate their work and cultivate their leadership potential. The goal of the Social Innovation Institute is to identify and support bold, emerging leaders in the Inland Empire’s nonprofit sector. Through the power of peer support, networks, and cutting-edge skills, this Institute provides participants with a place to foster engagement and innovation.

The Social Innovation Institute focuses on three major components: Data and Technology (Policy Intelligence, Market Intelligence, Community Resources), Narrative Change (Framing, Messaging, Storytelling), and Action (Civic Engagement, Advocacy, and Social Enterprise).

SEED Lab

SEED Lab

The Social Entrepreneurship Engagement & Development Lab (SEED) Lab is a 10-month pre-accelerator for social entrepreneurs aiming to tap the deep reservoir of unrecognized talent within marginalized and under-served communities and support their efforts to identify and develop pioneering paths out of inherited problems that have buried and muffled those voices.

The program was designed to support the implementation of visionary ideas into similarly powerful tools to generate social impact, deepen civic engagement, and bring about empowerment and sustainable change. SEED Lab prioritizes social entrepreneurs who, despite their talent, commitment, vision and social impact potential, do not yet have the opportunity to be part of a learning environment, engage with fellow change makers, learn from mentors or access resources and networks.

Douglass Washington Leadership Program

Douglass Washington Leadership Program

The Douglass Washington Leadership Program (DWLP) aims to foster civic leadership, mentorship, and a trusted network to drive initiatives that advance equity and inclusion in civic leadership. In this first year, this fellowship is only open to residents of Riverside County and San Bernardino County. We aim to expand this program to other regions after 2019. The cost of the program is $200, and generous scholarships are available.

We invite community partners, students, and aspiring civic leaders to apply. The program will involve monthly seminars, from September-December 2019. We have the honor of having the first seminar led by Kenneth B. Morris, co-founder of Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives.

IE Nonprofit Fellowship

Inland Empire Nonprofit Fellowship Program

The IE Nonprofit Fellowship Program is designed to identify emerging leaders among recent college graduates, and to enable nonprofits to benefit from their talent by exploring innovative expansions to their programs.

The fellowship is an opportunity for recent graduates to prepare for full-time employment in the nonprofit sector and to get hands-on experience working for a nonprofit addressing aspects such as: demographic or policy research; service provision and implementation; community organizing and engagement; event management; grant writing; volunteer coordination; financial administration; and media/communications.

Racial Equity Training

Racial Equity Institute

The Racial Equity Institute goes beyond standard frameworks of diversity, equity, and inclusion, adapting to the current moment and calls to combat systemic racism. If we are to combat systemic racism, we need to understand the systems that keep racial disparities in place and to outline a plan of data, narrative, and action (DNA) to enable—and hopefully accelerate—transformations in those systems to produce more just outcomes.
