The event, titled “Climate Change: Navigating the Challenges of a Perpetual Fire Season,” is scheduled for 1 to 2:30 p.m. April 8, and will feature a keynote speech from Wade Crowfoot, state secretary of natural resources, and a panel discussion on wildfires and climate resilience.

Panelists will include state Sen. Anthony Portantino (D-La Cañada Flintridge), BizFed Chief Executive Officer Tracy Hernandez and Dr. Michael Gollner, who leads the Berkeley Fire Research Lab at UC Berkeley.

“We are many months away from wildfire season, but this is a timely conversation given how early and more frequently we experience fires due to climate change,” said Karthick Ramakrishnan, director of the Center for Social Innovation at UC Riverside.  “We’re always eager to find new ways of engaging researchers, policy makers and the public, and we’re thrilled to partner with the Southern California News Group to sponsor this conversation.”
