California will lose a House seat for the first time, and the scramble is on

California is poised to lose a house seat for the first time in state history. "The announcement Monday was expected after trickling growth in a state with a severe housing shortage and high costs. Redistricting could set off a cascade of decisions if incumbents with less favorable districts decide not to seek reelection" (White). This result stems from what some cite as the state's high cost of living and the result of the census population numbers is one less state representative.
