Young people from a coalition of youth-led organizations and high schools across Los Angeles County held a rally in downtown Los Angeles Saturday, May 8, to show solidarity against the eruption of violence and abuse reported against Asian Americans.

California represents one-third of the nation’s Asian/Pacific Islander population, and the biggest AAPI population centers are in Los Angeles and Orange counties, said Karthick Ramakrishnan, chair of the state Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs and director of the Center for Social Innovation at UC Riverside.
