Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are the fastest-growing immigrant groups in the United States. Almost a third live in California.
With the spread of hate crimes in the AAPI community, we are focusing on the many contributions they have made to the Golden State.
Karthick Ramakrishnan, professor of public policy and public policy at the University of California at Riverside, said, “You can’t talk about California without talking about the population of the Pacific islanders.
“They look at the ethnic business district, look at the restaurants, look at the religious institutions,” said Ramakrishnan. “It’s really great to see the variety, from Hindu temples to Buddhist temples to Korean-American churches.”
California is home to about 6.5 million Asian Americans and islanders in the Pacific. Their diversity expands continents, languages , and demographics.
