Southern California Youth Futures Summit
Young people have a lot at stake when it comes to the future of their communities and our democracy as a whole. The COVID-19 pandemic, recent movements for racial justice, and climate disasters have heightened the urgency to ensure that young people play an active, informed role in decision-making processes that have serious consequences for our collective future.
This regional summit builds on California 100’s work on bringing together passionate student leaders, campus activists, and youth community partners from regions across the state to workshop a series of youth vision manifestos for the future, develop calls to action that inspire a growing network of young California futurists, and co-design a celebratory Youth Summit planned for March 2023 on the Capitol lawn in Sacramento. Young Californians are essential to enacting meaningful change as we envision a more vibrant future for our next century.
Purpose: This summit will welcome youth, college students, and young people from across the Inland Empire (Riverside and San Bernardino Counties) to come together to:
- build connections,
- organize for local advocacy,
- uplift achievements and initiatives,
- and create a “youth manifesto” that uplifts their vision for the future
Activities: The summit will feature guest speakers, youth-led workshops, food, games, music, art, campus tours, resource fair, and connections with local leaders and nonprofits.
Volunteers: We are seeking volunteers to assist with setting up, managing registrants, facilitating workshops, and supporting other event tasks.
